So, despite my MiL's generous offer to hang coordinating lavender/white polka dot draperies, we simply kept blinds up on the windows and would shut them only at night. I followed the "rules" about having my baby nap in daylight so she would not "confuse" night and day. We continued this until the sleep problems started. Then, suddenly, I was reading advice that said to make her room as dark as possible for all sleep times. So, I pinned up a bedsheet across the windows, and it stayed there for months.
Well, I decided that it was time to upgrade the "decorating" and go for some real curtains. I found some simple, dark lavender curtains with thermal backing (light blocking and heat/cold resistant) that seem to do the trick. They were cheap (less than 1/4 the cost of the Pottery Barn curtains) and easy to install. Tony did a great job on that! And now, we can have daylight during play time and darkness for sleepy time!
