Weekend at Work

"The way I move is the way I'll sing. If I've got no groove, it's a pretty sad thing." -Rollo Dilworth

This was among the many phrases of wisdom that the amazing Rollo Dilworth bestowed upon the students in the All-State Women's Choir this weekend. Two of my students had the pleasure of working with him for this two-day event, and I got to sit along with my colleagues and enjoy watching him create beautiful music while having lots of fun. For those who don't know, Dr. Dilworth is a choral composer and conductor at North Park University in Chicago, IL. He has written and published over 100 pieces for choir, doing his best work in airports, so he claims. Seeing him work with my students was by far the highlight of my weekend!

Upon returning from Greensboro, Tony and I headed out for dinner and to buy paint for the downstairs bathroom. Dinner was a little stressful, since everyone and their mom likes to eat out at the restaurants near our house, but we finally got seated and had a decent meal around 7:45pm!

Buying paint was much less stressful. Being that this was our first attempt at painting our house (never mind the fact that we've been living here for 2 years!), we had lots of questions, and the Home Depot guy was very helpful. Special thanks to Robbie and Ginnie for the gift card that bought a lot of our supplies!

Here's the "Before"...

Here's Tony working hard to prep the room as we jammed to music...

And [drumroll, please]... here's the "After"...

Painting, is certainly a lesson in teamwork, especially when you're working together in a tiny little room doing something neither of you is very good at! But, we think it turned out well and are excited to finally have some color on the walls. Next job-- the upstairs bathroom!

I'm still considering having a "painting party" and inviting everyone to join in the fun. I doubt anyone really wants to spend their free time painting our house, but the offer still stands!! :)

The bathroom looks great! I can sympathize on painting nightmares - I have a house full of them. You guys did a great job :)

For some reason, I remembered to check your blog, and am always reminded how great new technology is and how behind the times I can get---I am surprised to actually see your new bathroom color without actually being there and I must tell you both how great I think it looks! I love it!! I also love the director's saying about groove. Love to you both!
