sneaky kid...

A couple of weeks ago, Abbie cut her first upper tooth (the front one on the left).  It must have been more painful than the others, because we dealt with some serious teething pain and interrupted sleep on this one.  But, would you believe that yesterday I discovered she has cut another tooth beside that one??  I didn't even know it was coming in, then yesterday I got a peek inside her mouth and there it was... a lot of it, actually!  I don't know how she snuck that one past us, but she did.  I am a little confused, though, because I though she'd get both of her front teeth before the others started coming in.  Guess I was wrong.

Even without using these new teeth, Abbie is getting good at chewing stuff.  She's been working pretty hard on chicken, though I don't always have the patience to feed it to her, because it takes SOOOO long.  She is also doing a great job chewing chunks of banana, potato, and her new food - cantaloupe.  Mmmm, she loves cantaloupe!

With all of this excitement, unfortunately, we have also had a rather negative shift in Abbie's nap schedule.  Whereas she used to nap for a few hours each day, and we had gotten pretty settled into a routine of napping ~1 hour at 10am and 3pm, she has recently decided that napping is for the birds.  She has become quite difficult to put down to sleep, and regardless of how tired she seems, she will only nap for about 20 minutes at a time.  The trade-off is that she has also moved her bedtime up to 6:00-6:30pm.  In some ways this is great (Tony and I get more time together, including a quiet dinner), but it has it's drawbacks (going out as a family after Tony gets home from work is now more difficult).  Perhaps this will help us get started on date nights.  Seems like a pretty easy babysitting job if the kid goes to be within the first hour or so that you are there.  Hmm... we'll have to plan a night out sometime soon to test this theory.
