sweepstakes!

I like sweepstakes...especially when there's a chance to win a decent sum of money. I am currently on a roll entering every store survey I can in hopes of possibly winning $500-$1000 to spend in their store (or in cash). I figure that if I enter enough of them, I might actually win one day. The beauty of this form of sweepstakes is that I don't have to spend any money that I wouldn't have normally spent in order to play. And, I figure that not everyone has the time (not that I always do) to fill out a million surveys, so maybe my odds are pretty good.

My new endeavor also includes a chance to win money, but this time a decent chunk of my own money is on the line. Tony is running a 5% Weight Loss Challenge for family and friends that wish to play. We all pay in $50, then have until October 4 to lose the weight (% lost is posted by email every week). Plus, we have to maintain it into Novemeber (I suggested this rider to discourage the wrestler style last-minute weight-loss that SOME people like to use to win bets). I'm hoping that the thought of losing $50, and the chance of winning some extra dough from those who cannot make the goal, will keep me motivated to not look like a cow at the weddings this fall.

In the baby news... Abigail is now 10 weeks old, and she finally got to meet her cousin Anna this past weekend, who has been in Africa for the last 2 months! We had a little homecoming get-together at Gary and Susan's on Friday, plus Anna came up to go see Harry Potter and sunbathe with Tony and me on Saturday.

She also got to meet Guffy on this trip!

And, Gary finally got to hold her...

Anna was with a small group from Appalachian State U. that went out to dig a well for an underdeveloped community, as well as visiting an orphanage and doing some fun stuff at the end of their trip.

I totally understand, I always enter the Target $5,000 survey thing. I just posted to my blog for the first time in months! I thought you would want to know. :)
