But, the baby is definitely growing! She is right on track and my belly is getting bigger every week. Her kicks are stronger now, and Tony really enjoys feeling her move about. I've found that she's strong enough to disturb my sleep now, too. Many nights I wake up around 3am and have a hard time sleeping afterwards while the baby gets her aerobics exercise in. This makes napping a very appealing activity, though I try to resist.
Beyond the doctor's visit, there have been some really nice things going on this weekend:
- We got a stroller/travel system. Tony's mom was incredibly generous in wanting to buy this for us. It includes an infant carrier and car seat base and is much lighter than most travel systems. Although I did narrow down the choices, I was proud of Tony for making the final decision on which to get. I think he did a great job!
- We reorganized the nursery on Saturday. Although it was a bit stressful, I think we may have come up with a set-up that works. I'm anxious to get some things up on the walls to make the room feel complete.
- I think Chrissy has figured out that there's something special about to enter our lives. She has spent a lot of time "incubating" by laying on my belly. She can even sense when I'm upset or stressed and comes to comfort me. Her purrs are very calming. But, her newest discovery is a special little place to nap. Neither cat has been very interested in the baby stuff since we started loading into the room, but apparently Chrissy took a special liking this weekend. I didn't have the heart to move her!
- We had a "TV-free" day on Sunday. It's amazing what a difference that can make! I have spent sooooo much time watching TV, and we always seem to have something to watch in the evenings. I just wanted to challenge us to break away and interact in other ways. It was truly relaxing reading the paper together, talking over meals at the table (yes I'm allowed to sit up to eat!), laying in the hammock, talking to family and friends on the phone, and listening to music. Definitely on the list to do again soon!
- I finished the weekend with a bath. It's the first time I've taken a bath since I've been pregnant, and oh was it worth it! 'Nuf said.
Finally, I'd like to send a big shout out to Laura B... HAPPY BIRTHDAY! We love you! Thanks for everything you've done to support us in this trying time. Your friendship is invaluable!
