Easter

Just a quick post with some Easter anecdotes. I've been running around like a chicken with my head cut off, so not much time for details! I keep trying to get Tony to post about his half-marathon in Virginia Beach last weekend, but he's being resistant. His mom took lots of good pictures, so hopefully he'll post soon. In the meantime, here's a rundown on Easter...

I hosted my first holiday at home. I'm dumb. I tried to paint the dining room two days before Easter. I tried to paint it red. It took 7 hours -- a coat of primer and two coats of paint. It still needs another coat and some touch-up.

I made a baked chicken for dinner. It almost didn't get in the oven in time to be able to eat. I couldn't find the string to tie the bird up after I stuffed the skin with seasoned cream cheese. Mom saved me with her ingenuity. It turned out yummy after all!

I made a strawberry cake for dessert. Roxie li(c)ked it a lot. Note to self-- do not leave warm cake on the counter uncovered while upstairs folding laundry. Don't worry. I sliced off a layer of the cake before putting it together with frosting.

The cake: Pre-Licking

The culprit and the evidence

My dad is generous... and he made us do work after dinner. He also did work for me, so I guess we're even. Tony got vegetable plants and he's going to make them grow delicious food for us to eat (and bring down the grocery bill!). I got a manual edger to complement my string trimmer. It's hard work, but totally worth it when the lawn looks good.

Countdown to California... less than 2 days. Look out, Tara... here we come! I can't wait to put work on the backburner for a few days and have some fun.

Hey guys! Hmm, I have one better than your kitty. My dad made a home-made cherry pie, crust hand made and everything and left it overnight on the counter to cool. Well, Mason (golden retriever specializing in counter surfing) knocked the pie plate onto the floor and ate the whole thing. We found the pie plate in the middle of the kitchen licked completely clean, it could have just come out of the dishwasher. And Mason was a little red around the muzzle! Hope you are having a good time, I stopped in Durham at a Bojangles on my way to Charlotte last week and was disapointed in the restaurant I miss mostest. Ciao!
