Home for the Holidays

It's true what the song says: There's no place like home for the holidays!

This year we are staying put for the entire holiday season and it feels amazing. Yes, we will miss seeing many people, but the overall sense of relaxation we feel is beyond description. No packing, no driving, no sleeping in a different bed. No unpacking, no ridiculous heaps of stuff to put away when we are weary from travel, and so many extra hours and days to do things at home or fit in those special holiday events around town without feeling overrun.

We enjoyed a lovely Thanksgiving at home with both sets of grandparents and our dear friends, The Gorskis. The food was delicious. Everyone brought stuff to share, so the cooking load was manageable, and we were free to eat leisurely, stop to play for a while, and do whatever. It was fantastic.

Being home meant we could get our Christmas decorations up easily over the weekend and the kids had tons of time to play with the neighbors.

This weekend, we have already attended the Durham Tower Lighting, which included various local kids performing, plus an awesome electric violinist from Charleston along with his acoustic guitar-playing, singing sister. They were fantastic!

The kids have also mailed their letters to Santa...

We are looking forward to more fun later on... Abbie's first piano recital, a Christmas parade, and hanging out with several friends to celebrate this season of peace and joy!

We, too are staying home this year! I thought I'd be working Christmas and New Years, but apparently am on only for the latter. Grandparents are coming to us! We were gone for Thanksgiving, but I'm happy to be staying put for a few months! I hate packing.
