My son has entered a stage of 2 year old behavior that has me fearing other people's first impressions. Jason is a very loving, hilarious, energetic kid. However, he has recently started asserting his independence, sense of personal space and property, and generally testing his limits (and those of kids around him).
We had a family gathering last weekend, and based on Jason's frequent pushing of other kids and grabbing toys away, I can only imagine the negative thoughts many of the parents there might have about my son. It's not that he's always like that, but for someone who only sees him for a short period of time and doesn't really know the loving side of Jason, I imagine they probably think he's a bully.
Tonight we had orientation for preschool, and I have renewed fears of how other parents might develop negative impressions of Jason as he learns to coexist in the classroom. I really hope that he does not overstep his bounds, or that he learns very quickly to play nicely. I really want other parents and kids to realize that Jason is the loving (albeit 2 yr old crazy) kid that we know.
