I just finished a week of "back to reality". After an awesome week with Abbie, filled with lots of projects, plenty of playtime, and extremely flexible scheduling, we were back to the grind on Monday. It was definitely a rough transition. Folks always say that after a kid goes to the grandparents' house (no offense, grandparents!), it takes a week or more to get them back to their normal behavior. They are right! This week, Jason refused to get in his carseat EVERY time we went to the car. He ignored or rejected 99% of directives. And he decided this week that he would no longer sit in our laps to read stories before bed. That one is actually a little funny now that I'm over the rejection-factor. Each night and at naptime, Jason climbs up onto the ottoman, which rocks, and sits across from us to hear his stories.
Lucky for me, the rough transition week has ended with a lovely date with Tony on Friday night and a fun potluck picnic at our house tonight. I'm thoroughly enjoying the weekend!
