When Abbie first started using a sippy cup, she used to throw it on the floor after every time she took a drink. We'd have to pick it up and replace it on her tray in hopes she'd drink some more. Eventually, we stopped giving it back and she figured out that throwing the cup down would result in no more drink -- problem solved. Or so we thought. She had even started being so "type-A" that she insisted on having her cup in the cup-holder and finishing her entire plateful before saying "all done!".
But now, Abbie has a new mission: intentionally throwing down food that she doesn't care to eat (regardless of the fact that she likes the food). And, when she does this, she says, "Uh oh!" Uh, yeah, Abbie, I'm no dummy... it's NOT an "uh oh"... it's an "on purpose".
I think this is a demonstration of her trying to push her limits, something that's apparently common at this age. The concept is really quite funny, because I know she learned the phrase from all the times that she has dropped a toy or fallen down and we've said "Uh oh". But, it drives me crazy every time she does this with her food. Sometimes, I have a hard time accepting that my sweet little girl is already learning defiance... and temper tantrums... oh, and the phrase "Stop it!"

Billy does the same thing with his sippy-cup! He also likes to pick up food, look at it, close his hand into a fist, extend the arm/hand over the side of the highchair tray, turn and open -- dropping the food on the floor! I guess that's a baby thing...Good luck with Abbie!
