New Bern wrap-up

As most of you know, this past weekend was the MSBike event in New Bern.  We raise money to support the National MS Society, then participate in a two-day bike event.  This is the first year that Tony and I have camped.   Previously, we have had a hotel room or stayed in a house with my parents (the year of Tropical Storm Gabrielle).  The weather was beautiful Friday night and Saturday.  We had first planned to ride 50 miles on Saturday, then switched to 75, then decided half-way through the ride to go for 100.  We felt pretty good for the first 80 miles, then had to stop for some pain meds because Tony's neck was bothering him.  Four chewable tablets and 15 minutes later, we were back in business and had a strong finish.
Unfortunately, it rained Saturday night.  The storm was strong enough to even cause water to leak into our tent, mostly on Tony's sleeping bag.  We didn't sleep terribly well, and had no urge to ride the next morning.  They also canceled the 30-mile route, which we had planned to do so that I could get home in time to go to work, so we ended up packing and heading home SUnday morning.  I wish we could have ridden, but it just wasn't in the cards for us.  Regardless, it was a great weekend with great friends!
