7 Weeeks!

Apparently, life has been busy, because I'm behind on posting! Abigail is now 7 weeks old and getting chubbier by the day. She has graduated from Newborn size clothes finally, and has a whole new set of adorable outfits to wear. She has also been getting lots of cuddle time (insisting on it, really) from many friends.
the last newborn outfit at 6 weeks (it was a little bigger than the others)

Last week was spent conducting interviews for a new Chorus teacher to a replace me. Amy and I did the first round, and Mr. Hawks will jump in on round 2 next week, hopefully with many of our students as well. During all interviews, Abigail was snuggled up in Amy's arms getting lots of love. Amy has a magic touch, and Abigail was fantastic the whole time!

This past weekend was super busy. We went to Todd and Tina's wedding on Saturday morning in Duke Gardens. The setting was beautiful, although the weather was super hot and humid. THe ceremony was simple and lovely. Tina looked absolutely thrilled by the end of the ceremony, and I think I saw a little trickle of tears in Todd's eyes. Abigail slept through most of the ceremony, and enjoyed plenty of cuddles afterwards from Robin, Todd, Tina and Ainsley.

Saturday night was my Women's Voices Chorus concert. It was a collection of songs about animals plus a very entertaining telling of the "Chicken Little" story and high energy kids' songs lead by one of Allan's friends. I got to conduct one piece so that Allan could do the narrator part. In all, it was a very fun concert. I loved the casual outdoor setting and the fact that so many families with their kids came out to see us. I felt like I could let go of my Type A tendencies for a bit and just have a good time. Abigail was also fabulous, though I sort of wish she had been old enough to participate in the singing and storytime. Hopefully, there'll be opportunities like that for her as she grows up!

Sunday morning, Tony went for a loooooong bike ride with the gang, and I hung out at the Deiberts house again. I always enjoy that. It was a special day, too, because Grace was running her "summer school" that morning. She is such a creative 9-yr old! A bunch of kids from the neighborhood come over and they play school. She has permission slips for all the parents to fill out, and appoints the kids around her age to be assistant teachers, and creates activities for the younger kids. They even have lunchtime planned into the schedule. It's just neat! I hope she grows up to be a really awesome schoolteacher one day.
Yesterday, a lactation consultant came to the house and met with me. She helped me begin to solve my pain issues and showed me more positions for feeding and holding Abbie. It was very helpful, and renewed my drive to get her nursing regularly. Although there is still some stuff to work through, I think we're on the right track! I'm pleased!
Abigail is getting stronger by the day. Her grip is fierce. She lifts her head much higher and holds it there for a while before collapsing. She is also learning to us her feet to push herself along as she lays on her stomach. It's really neat to watch. We also have plans to see her doctor next week for vaccinations (ouch!). I can't wait to see how much she has grown this month!

are you gonna be a stay-at-home mommy rather than going back to teaching?

I'm planning to take a year off and hopefully do some freelance work during that year. We'll reevaluate next spring, but I'll probably be looking for a job then... preferably less time consuming than my previous one!
