Checking off the Summer Bucket List

Last summer I made a list of awesome stuff we could do during the summer and we accomplished almost none of it. The summer seemed shorter and it was just harder to get us out the door to do stuff. This summer, however, we are finally checking off the list in full force.

So far, we have...

- Joined the Museum of Life and Science and visited twice; the kids can spend hours upon hours there, especially in the Hideaway Woods

- Hit up a few free or super-cheap kids movies at the local theaters

- Let the kids roam free at the park

- gone to the Burlington City Park and the new Burlington Splash Park

She still hates carousels... even on the horse that doesn't move!

But she absolutely loves getting wet!

- joined the NC Aquarium which also gives reciprocity at the NC Zoo (we won't be going to the zoo until it cools down!)

- Made a day trip to the beach at Fort Fisher (visited the Aquarium while there) 

- taken the Amtrak train to Durham for lunch

- visited Kidzu in Chapel Hill, a place I thought the kids might have outgrown by now, but their expanded space had tons of awesome stuff to stoke their imaginations. We could have stayed all day!

- Let the kids have many sleepovers in each other's rooms, which I think we might all really miss when school starts

Tomorrow we plan to drive to Charlotte to explore Discovery Place then play at the lake with Grandma and Grandpa!  With just a month left before school starts, we still have much to do. We'll be celebrating Jason's birthday, going to Bethany Beach for a week, and the kids will attend Schoolhouse of Wonder camp in the woods for a week, as well. Should be a crazy August, but lots of fun!
