We spent last year's Father's Day at the beach, and it was such a nice weekend getaway, that we did it again! This year, we went to Carolina Beach, and stayed in our friends' condo just a block off the beach. It was great to have a very affordable to place to stay, and room to bring and prepare our own food. We also got to see Tony's cousins, William and Angelo, graduate from their Wilmington high school on Saturday, then spend a bit of time with his family.
Even though it was Father's Day, and we did have fun as a family, and the kids loved playing with their dad, I think my favorite part was the few hours that I got to spend with Abbie on the beach. We played in the sand together, splashed in the waves, and went for a pretty long walk where her imagination took charge and I got to stand back and admire what an incredible little girl she is. Guess that was my belated Mother's Day present. :)

Before we left the beach area, we made a stop at the boardwalk for ice cream (me & Abbie), Italian ice (Jason), and a milkshake (Tony). Then, Tony introduced the kids to arcade games, which they loved! Hopefully, their driving skills will improve greatly before they ever get REAL cars!
