HO HO Holidays!

The holidays are in full swing here!  We had a festive weekend to kick things off.  On Saturday, we attended the Carothers' daughter's first birthday party, complete with cookie decorating, stickers, and ornament crafts.  Jason and Abbie stuffed themselves full of sugar (including Jason's attempt to suck icing out of the squeezy bottle) and mostly refused to eat a normal lunch.
After the party, I took Abbie to see Disney on Ice.  She loved seeing Mickey, Minnie, Donald Duck, Goofy, and several Disney princesses.  She also adored checking out all the other little girls in their princess dresses.  I have a feeling that if we go to something like this again, Abbie will insist on dressing up!
Saturday evening, Tony and I went to his office holiday party while the kiddos played and slept at a friend's house.  It was great to get out just the two of us, enjoy a FREE meal and good company!
Sunday was Christmas #1!  My parents came to visit and we exchanged gifts.  It was nice to be able to open just 1 gift at a time and enjoy them as we went along.

While Jason napped, Abbie played outside with her Grandma while Tony and my dad installed our new programmable thermostats and gave our new gas edger a workout.  Around 4pm, we headed out to Pullen Park in Raleigh for their Holiday Express event.  The park was decorated with lights, there were various craft stations for the kids, Santa Claus, a live performance stage, and of course the carousel, playground and train.  The kids had a great time!  It was great to do something special to start off the holiday month.
