This past weekend was VERY exciting. On Friday, Abbie and Jason (mostly Abbie) got a huge surprise. Thanks to the very generous help of their Nana and PopPop, we now have a full-size playset with swings, slide, and rock climbing wall. It's awesome. The end.
Nana, PopPop, Aunt Kathy and baby Taylor all came down to visit and be the first to play with Abbie and Jason on the new set. Thanks to some gorgeous weather, we were able to spend pretty much the entire day outside on Saturday. Completely fabulous. I wish I could have days like that every weekend!
HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY! The kids will probably hate us for these pictures...
We also met up with a bunch of our friends for the Kidney Kare 5K in Chapel Hill, benefiting the UNC Kidney Center, in honor of our friend, Emily. Tony ran, and I cheered.
I told Tony he had to finish the race before 9am (the race started around 8:30am) because I needed to head off with Abbie to her swim lesson. He thought I was crazy, but sure enough, he came sprinting to the finish just before we left!
As I mentioned, Abbie had her first swim lesson on Saturday morning. We are doing lessons at the YMCA downtown, which is apparently a very popular place as evidenced by the literal MOB on the pool deck when we arrived. Abbie is in the parent-child class right now. It's a little below her level on many things, but she still needs to learn to blow bubbles and get more comfortable with jumping off the wall. I figured it would be better to re-acclimate to the water in a parent-child class, then she will take the preschool class by herself next session. Abbie loved being in the water and is already doing a better job kicking than she was at the end of last summer.
Saturday afternoon was filled with more fun playing outside and trying out new dress-up clothes that Abbie received from Kathy and Matt. Abbie refused to nap, as she was having way too much fun. I really wish we could have days like this every week!
