We spent the last 2 weeks on a whirlwind trip. While exhausting, there were lots of fun moments. We went to Hilton Head Island, SC for Tony's Duke conference. My parents came, which was really nice since I needed help with Abbie and we hadn't really taken a summer vacation together in a long time. Abbie had a fantastic time in the sand, ocean, and pool.
After 4 days at the beach, we drove to Charlotte and caught a flight to Baltimore, MD to celebrate Tony's grandmother's 90th birthday. It was a great surprise party, followed by brunch the next day for all of the family. They set up a bounce house water slide in the backyard, which the kids absolutely loved!
Then, it was back to Charlotte to do laundry and repack our suitcases. Abbie also got to do a little skinny dipping in the lake with her grandma after a super-hot morning at the playground.
The lucky girl got to stay in Charlotte for more playtime with her grandparents while Tony and I flew out to Sacramento, CA for Tara's wedding. The flight out wasn't too bad, except that it was the first time that my feet swelled up, and it didn't subside until today.
Upon arriving in CA, we rented a car and drove out to Fairfield, home of the Jelly Belly Factory. It was one of the few things left on my sightseeing list for this area (we've been out there several times in the last few years and have been able to see a lot!).
The next day was Tara's bachelorette party, a relaxing time at the spa followed by a yummy dinner. The leg and arm massage was definitely the highlight of the day for me!
After several hours of rehearsing on Friday (we had to coordinate two ceremonies), we enjoyed a fantastic dinner at TS Noodle in Sac with Tara and Kelvin's families.
Saturday was the big day! We had a church ceremony in the early afternoon, then a shorter, more casual ceremony at Wilson Vineyards, location of the reception, a few hours later. The second ceremony was HOT, but luckily it cooled down shortly after the reception began, and was pleasant for the rest of the evening.
On Sunday, we had a relaxing breakfast, packed up, and spent the afternoon hanging out with wedding guests at a pool party. After the party, Tony and I went to the movies (Tony saw Transformers, I saw Larry Crowne- I don't recommend it) before catching the redeye back to Charlotte. The flight was awful, as I had a very hard time getting comfortable to sleep. But, we are glad to be back at home now, and are almost caught up on sleep. Still haven't finished unpacking yet!
