We made it back safe and sound... a great (though burning hot) weekend for a bike ride! This weekend was the Bike MS event. And while it threatened to be rainy the first night, and a chance of rain along with high temps, we really only had to deal with the heat, and that wasn't so horrible. It was, of course, helpful that Tony and I had a hotel room at the Sheraton with AIR CONDITIONING where we could cool off away from the campsite. Gosh that was a great idea!
So we got to ride both days (better than last year when Tropical Storm Gabrielle washed away the second day). Saturday we rode hard. I had to quit for a bit 2/3 of the way through because my body was refusing to function properly. But, after a 10-minute break and taking it easy for a little bit, I got it back together and finished strong. Tony was a real trooper and stuck with me. Today we took it easy-- a more "fun" ride.
The support at the ride was great, and there was plenty of free food and Gatorade to be had. We also got our team picture taken, so hopefully I'll have a copy of that to post soon. Besides riding and eating, there was plenty of hanging out at the campsites and convention center, chatting, playing Baggo, and pushing Ameriprise paraphernalia on innocent bikers!
As usual... some photos from the weekend:
Getting the weekend started off right... with a cupcake!
Sweaty, but still smiling, after 76 miles!
The Ameriprise tent. Sadly, I was not allowed to enter to win a Camelbak, since I'm already a client... and married to an advisor. What a rip-off! :-p
Dana!! What are you doing??
Hot and sweaty by the tent. I think Tony is tired, too!
Wouldn't YOU be after riding 76 miles on too little sleep?
Me and Jason
And the moment we've all been waiting for... Tony shows off his newly shaven legs.
He kept feeling like he had "phantom hair" during the ride today. Must be a weird feeling! But, I've got to say, the boy has nice legs, don't you think??
So, a great weekend indeed. Mom, we really missed you this weekend, but you're probably glad you weren't out riding in that heat. I think we all had a good time. Not sure if everyone is as tired as us... but, I'm pooped! Time for bed so I can rest up for another crazy busy week at school.
