WARNING: If poop, or the discussion of such, bothers you, read no further. Come back in a week and there'll be something else to read about.
OK, so here's the deal... Last night, I had a "bad mommy" moment causing Tony and I to deal with a nasty mess at 3am. When I checked on Jason around 10pm, before heading to bed, I noticed that he smelled a little like poop. I wasn't totally convinced, since his spit smells similarly sweet (really, it's a funny smell, but not bad in either case), so I sort of passed it off and figured I'd just change him when he woke up for a feeding (which has been more like 2:00-4:00am now, instead of 4:00-6:00am). I mentioned to Tony that I thought he smelled a little like poop, and Tony suggested we go ahead and wake him up to change his diaper, then put him back to bed. Well, after spending several days very focused on making sure Jason is sleeping well and developing a more consistent schedule, and being rather selfish in wanting to go to sleep and not risk having to rock Jason for an hour, I blew off Tony's suggestion and went to bed.
3:00am rolled around, and Jason woke up hungry. So, I went in to feed him and noticed that his entire room smelled. At this point, it wasn't so sweet, it was a bit nauseating. I rolled him over to find that he had produced and enormous poop that saturated just about everything around him. Ugh! I felt horrible! And to add to the remorse, I had to wake up Tony to help me clean up, which I hated because he had to get up at 5am to work out.
The thing is, Jason really only poops every 2 weeks or so lately. He'll have an occasional smear here or there, but the kid saves it all up and when he lets loose, it's a total disaster! The last time he pooped for real was on Friday, October 14th. I remember because I was scrambling to get everything ready for our trip to MD, and was on the phone with our mortgage company when Jason exploded. Seriously, when he poops, it requires several wipes, washcloths and at least 20 minutes to clean everything up! Getting back to my point... I sort of discounted the idea that he may have pooped last night, because he does it so infrequently that the chances were low. But, I think I've learned my lesson on this one. If I smell poop at night, I need to at least roll Jason over and check his diaper.
I don't know if I wish Jason would poop every day or 2 like most kids, which could be cleaned up quickly with a couple wipes, or if I'm glad he poops very infrequently, even though it's a huge mess. I guess it doesn't matter, though, because I really have no choice! Crap! (literally)

YIKES! I can't decide which is worse either!
Seems like a lose/lose situation! Lesson learned but you're still a great mommy!
You are still a wonderful mom! It is a definitely a lose/lose situation.
