It just keeps getting better...

Yesterday was quite an exciting day.  After my positive post about Abbie's good night's sleep, we followed it with two peaceful naps and another good night last night.  Tony says that when she woke up this morning, he didn't even hear her (I was at the gym) until she crawled into the hallway and said "Da-Da"!  Such a better way to wake up than "WAAAAAAAAAAAAA"!  Don't worry-- all other doors, except Abbie's and ours, are closed at night, and the gate at the stairs is closed and locked.  She can't get into much trouble.

In addition to the positive sleep changes we're experiencing, I also enjoyed finally finishing "The Time Traveler's Wife", which I have been working on for months.  It's amazing how hard it is to find time to read when you have a baby.  Even when the end of the day comes and she goes to bed, I'm often so tired that I can't read more than 5 pages at a time.  But, I'm so glad I finished the book yesterday.  It was very good.  Now, I can go rent the movie, which I hear was not as good (they never are!).  Thanks, Laura G, for loaning this one to me!

And now, the big news we've all been waiting for... Abigail took her FIRST STEPS yesterday!!  She has gotten up to as many as 6 steps before diving for one of us or falling over.  We had SO MUCH FUN yesterday practicing.  My face actually hurts from cheering for her so much.  You have to understand, we've been waiting a long time for this one!  She was the first of our little playgroup to start crawling, and she's the last to walk.  It really took some encouragement from us, because she's plenty content to crawl and cruise, but I do think she's proud of herself for walking yesterday.
It's also coincidental, because I took her to Stride Rite on Wednesday to get a pair of shoes that she can use outside.  She has just about worn a toe-hole in her soft shoes from dragging her feet on the concrete, and has grown out of her leather shoes.  So, I bought a cute little pair and am waiting for them to be shipped from the store in SC.  We had to settle for a little more pink than I like, but apparently there aren't many other options for little girls' shoes.  No biggie.  I'm excited for her to try out walking in her new shoes!
