This was also a milestone weekend in that it was the first time we have been away from Abigail overnight. I was nervous about it at first, but luckily the events on Saturday kept my mind occupied. She did really well, and we are so lucky to have had my parents here to take good care of her.On Sunday, we celebrated Mother's Day with a nice breakfast and Abbie's birthday with presents.
Clever Tony changed the bib from "Daddy's little girl" to "Mommy's little girl" for Mother's Day.
Baby doll from Abbie's great-Grandma. She loves "Baby"!Mom, Dad, and Megan left around noon, and we welcomed Tony's parents by 5pm. Along with them came some cool little gifts for Abbie, including a walk-behind music maker, which she enjoys pushing. Perhaps it will help her hone her walking skills!
Monday was Abbie's 1st birthday. We spent the day at the zoo, then celebrated with strawberry cake at home (recipe from Grandma).
Abbie had her own little cupcake and ate a decent little chunk out of it (I took the rest away and let her suck the mess off her hands and arms). It was pretty funny to watch, since she started out very lady-like, then made a huge mess when she figured out she could pick it up and chomp right into the cupcake. It was all over her face, hands, arms, and even down her shirt!
Here's a little video of the "excitement".I am definitely amazed at how fast the year has past and how quickly our little Abigail has grown up. She is so different from herself as a newborn... she's like a miniature person already! We are having so much fun with her, and I am incredibly thankful for all of the time that I have had to spend with with her this year.
