1) Abigail has a new "big girl" tub! She has been sitting up really well, and is wiggling around like crazy in the tub we have been using at the kitchen sink, so I decided to buy her the adorable little blow-up duckie for the big bathtub. She seems to love it!
2) We are finally having success in putting Abbie to bed "sleepy but awake"! I know most parents start this practice back at 4 months old, but we have had a really hard time with it. She would cry and cry and cry. I couldn't take it, so we usually ended up feeding or rocking her to sleep (which, by the way, is a very rewarding feeling for the parents, because sleeping babies feel so perfect in your arms!). Well, back in December, she started showing signs of readiness to put herself to sleep. But, with the craziness of the holidays, we just couldn't be consistent with her. So, at the turn of the year, we began putting her down before she was totally asleep, and are already having great success! In fact, I just put her down for a nap and it only took her 6 minutes to go to sleep! Yesterday morning, she didn't even make a peep... just laid there for a few minutes and then *snap* she was out!
3) Chrissy (our younger cat) has decided that climbing on people is her new favorite thing to do. This goes way beyond cuddling, mind you. She climbs onto my lap while I'm holding Abbie, and then somehow makes her way up onto my shoulders and sometimes onto my head. She perched herself on Tony's neck this morning as he finished his breakfast this morning, which gave her a great view of the wildlife outside. She has even climbed onto me while I'm sitting on the toilet. This was really freaky, by the way! If I bend over to pick something up, I'm liable to have a cat on my back before I stand up. It's definitely the newest hazard in our house! (as I finish up this post, I yet again have a cat on my back...)
