Kathy and Matt's Wedding

You know it's been too long since you've posted on the blog when your dad (who NEVER reads it) comments on the lack of posting...
I was trying to figure out what happened to delay posting this morning.  Yes, I had good intentions of posting while in Maryland, except time in Maryland is always busy, and it just never happened.  But, actually, the real reason for this lack of posting stems from a frustration with Blogger.  At the beginning of the month, I was asked to upgrade my posting page.  Note the word "upgrade".  This is supposed to mean "better", right?  WRONG!  Since my "upgrade", posting pictures is now a 2- to 3-step process and the option to add video clips disappeared.  Of course this video option disappeared right about the time that I had a really cute video to post.  So, after quite a bit of frustrated searching and fighting with Blogger, I quit and haven't visited my blog since.  Until now...
The past couple of weeks were quite eventful!  Most importantly, Kathy (my sister-in-law) got married!  The wedding weekend was busy, but very enjoyable.  Friday included manicures and pedicures (my first, and perhaps only of my life), a luncheon hosted by Kathy's Aunt Ginny and cousin Anne, rehearsal, and a bull-roast-style rehearsal dinner.  Saturday was full with hair and makeup stylists, pictures, and the wedding and reception.
The wedding was beautiful, of course.  Kathy did a great job of choosing a flattering dress for her bridesmaids that we can *gasp!* wear again!  And the flowers were gorgeous.  I loved how they popped out against the black dressed.  And, they matched Abbie's outfit perfectly!

I wish I could include some of the professional photographs here, but the website is protected so you can't just "right-click, save-as".  Clever folks, they are!  Oh well, we'll just have to wait a while to get those.  In the meantime, you can trust me that they are lovely.

 

 

Of course, the wedding weekend would not be complete without some little fiascos.  For instance, we moved our car to the reception site so that we could drive home (the trolley transported us to the wedding and reception), except neither of us brought the keys to the car and ended up having to squish into Tony's parents' car along with all of the gifts!  Then, there's the rain that just kept coming... all day and night... that is, until it turned into snow!  We woke up to a dusting of white on the morning of the brunch, and while beautiful, it led to the problem of fitting 90+ people into the house for brunch.  And finally, the most interesting fiasco of all... Did you know that if you lock your keys inside the trunk of a Lexus, then jimmy the locks to the car to get in and open the trunk, the security system goes into full force and shuts down all access to the trunk, therefore keeping you from ever getting your keys?  My parents found that one out the hard way.  Lucky for me, it meant they had to spend an extra day in Maryland while waiting for the dealership to open and make a new key for them.  Oh, fun times!

The rest of the week was slightly less chaotic, but included:

• A visit with Lindsay and her new baby Billy.  He is precious.  I truly forgot what it was like to hold a newborn.  Billy is bigger than Abigail was at birth, and even at 1 month, yet I felt like he was tiny and weightless.  
• A night out -- just Tony and me -- to see Fiddler on the Roof.  It was apparent to both of us that we were not used to staying up and being attentive "late" in the evening (8pm show), as we both had a moment of dozing.  But, it really was a great show, funny and entertaining.
• Plenty of visiting time with family, lots of food, and playing Wii with Kathy and Matt.

Maryland craziness has not ended since we left, unfortunately.  When we left on Saturday, Kathy had come down with some upper respiratory illness and fever, which later developed into pneumonia and sent her to the hospital.  We are glad that she has finally returned home and is recuperating in the comfort of her own surroundings, but know she will still need time before she truly feels better and are hoping for a quick recovery for her.
At home, we are trying to get back in the swing of things... going to the gym, eating healthy foods, sleeping in our own beds (not Me, Tony, Abigail, and the cats sharing a double!)... Laundry is done, mail sorted, groceries bought.  It probably time now to pay the bills and vacuum so we can be completely resettled before going out of town again in a week and a half!  The Beach to Battleship Half Ironman is right around the corner...
